0201 Dye Play Day

Date: Saturday, July 19, 10 am to 4 pm, one seesion

We provide the playground and all dyes, tools, and equipment. You provide the wool (or mohair, alpaca, or other protein fiber) in the form of yarn or roving. We'll discuss colors, how they work together, and how acid dyes work. Please wear old clothes.

0202 Natural Dye Day

Date: Saturday, July 19, 9 am to 5 pm, one session

Take to the fields on the farm and learn how to dye with the plants around you. Learn about mordants, gather plants, and prepare them for the dyepot. Enjoy a day in the country with a Master Gardener and professional plant person. All supplies included. You will leave with samples of many different dyes and mordants - at least 20 different colors.

0302 Learn to Needle Felt

Date: Monday, October 13, 7 pm to 9 pm, one session

Learn the ins and outs (and how to avoid ouches!) of needle felting. You’ll make a "pinkeep" - a pincushion on a pedestal, and learn about 3D and 2D (flat) needle-felting, and embellishing using vintage buttons, beads, and ribbons. Jenny will share some of her secrets and short cuts that make her needle felted art sought after at fiber and art festivals.

0212 Dyeing Patterned Sock Yarn

Date, 2009: Saturday, January 10 from 1 pm to 5 pm

You've knit with the self-patterning sock yarn, but have you ever thought about making it? We'll provide the dye and yarn for one pair of socks and show you how it is done. Wear old clothes!
