Class policies, parking and other important info

Heritage Spinning & Weaving hosts classes to expand skills, interest, and awareness in spinning, weaving, knitting, rug hooking, and related arts and crafts for individuals of all skill levels. Our intent is to provide a nurturing, dynamic learning environment that sparks creativity and inspiration.

Registration

Register for classes via the website, in the store or by calling the shop at 248/693-3690. You must be pre-registered to take a class; no walk-ins can be accepted (except for Knitting Help sessions).

Location

All classes are held at our store unless otherwise indicated. Directions, shop hours and phone can be found here. Some classes are held via Zoom, in which event a link will be emailed to students about a week prior and again within 24 hours of the class.

Supplies and Tools

Supplies should be purchased prior to class start time. Basic tools for most classes (knit, crochet, weave) include tapestry needle, small sharp scissors, calculator, tape measure, ruler, needle gauge, pen and/or pencil and paper for notes. Specific tools are specified in the class information page (and also as pop-ups  on the shop calendar).

Payment

Payment must be made at time of registration. Please note that many classes have materials fees, or require a particular book; check the class listing when you make your reservation.

Cancellations

If you cancel a week or more before the beginning date of the class, all monies will be refunded. If you cancel with less than a week’s notice, you will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations on the day of or the day before the class will result in no money being refunded. The cost of the class is neither refundable nor transferable once the class has begun. If we cancel a class, a full refund will be made.

Meals: Day-long (6 hour) classes have a one hour lunch break. Eat on the town or bring your lunch. A microwave and fridge are available. Popular downtown restaurants can be found here.

Parking

All downtown street parking is limited to two hours. The most convenient parking lots are 1) directly behind the shop, 2) across the street from the shop, 3) one block south of the shop at the corner of Anderson and Front Street, 4) the lot south on Anderson between the fire station and Children’s Park, and 5) behind the Methodist church on Slater Street, which has a walk through path to Anderson Street. Length of parking in these lots vary. To view a downtown parking map click here. The shop is located at the corner of E. Flint and Anderson streets.

Courtesy to other students

Please turn the ringer on your phone off. If you must answer it, please exit the class area before answering. Please refrain from using fragrances as many are allergic. We ask that you arrive 5 to 10 minutes before scheduled start time to get settled so that class can begin promptly. If your class begins outside of regular business hours, the doors will open 15 minutes before the class starts. If you are taking a Zoom class, please mute yourself unless you are speaking and do log in a few minutes early to make sure you are connecting properly.
