SUMMARY:Clasped Weft Table Runner on the Rigid Heddle\, class 1 of 1
DESCRIPTION:Day/Date/Time: Saturday\, 6/20/2026\, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm\, with a lunch break. This class meets once. \nDescription: Weave a table runner for your home. In this class you will learn how to weave using a clasped weft technique to create the colorful rectangles shown in the photo. While this is a precise technique\, it is not difficult if you know the tricks of the trade. Hint: it is all about tension. While we will work a sample section to begin\, you will be well on your way to having a lovely table runner by the end of the day of class. Thanks to Ashford for allowing us to use their pattern as a basis for this class. \nRequired Supplies/Equipment/Books: Rigid heddle loom with 7.5 or 8 dent heddle\, two colors of 8/4 cotton (white and black as shown in the photo or two colors of your choice)\, all tools needed to warp and weave. Optional\, you may use a single color of the caterpillar cotton for the inlay work\, in which case you will need to order a cone through the shop at least two weeks prior to class (view colors at https://www.ashford.co.nz/product/caterpillar-cotton/ — scroll down to “Downloads”). A set of bobbins with five different colors of caterpillar cotton will be available in class (price TBD). Feel free to bring your loom stand to use in class\, if so desired. Bring at least one boat shuttle for the colored strips (yarns will be provided on 4” bobbins) and two other shuttles pre-wound with your warp colors. These may be stick or boat shuttles. \nPrerequisite: Must be able to warp and weave independently on the RH loom. \nPre-Class Prep: Using the 8/4 cotton\, warp your loom and wind on prior to class. Each half of the warp (refer to project photo) is 8” wide. Your warp should be a minimum of 80” to make an up to 50” table runner. If you’d like to make more than one runner\, then add length based on your calculations. Pull TWO loops through each slot and wind on normally. Make sure you have the same number of threads on each half of the loom! Tension the warp when you get to class. \nInstructor   Joan Sheridan \nMaximum:   8 students \nFee: $100.00 \nClick to Register
