Great Lakes Area Fiber Happenings 2010

Here are some fiber related events where you can find us, or that are happening in the Great Lakes Area. To have your fiber event added, please send us an email with description of your special event and we’ll add it to the list.

Fiber Arts Festival, located at Castle Farms, near Charlevoix, Michigan held the last weekend in July, July 24 – 25 in 2010. Demos, vendors, and fiber art fashion show. See what Northwest Lower Michigan’s fiber artisans and farmers do. Located on restored dairy farm constructed to look like a medieval castle’s buildings, near Lake Michigan in the rolling hills of Charlevoix County – a great family vacation destination!

Michigan Fiber Festival, Allegan, Michigan, always the third full weekend in August: August 11 – 15 in 2010. A great way to get a taste of the fiber community at large – and we mean large! Great workshops, lots of shopping opportunities, animal shows, etc.

The friendliest little fiber festival around, the Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival can be found at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds, always the last weekend in September, Sept. 25 – 26 in 2010. Workshops, vendors, sheep shearing class, beginning shepherd classes, vendors, sheep shearing school, vendors, guild displays and demos, Vest Show, vendors, petting zoo, Skein Competition, and may we add, vendors? Great for the whole family! No admission or parking fees!

Mount Bruce Station Sheep & Wool Festival, always the last full weekend in September: 26 & 27 in 2009; 25 – 26 in 2010, Romeo, Michigan. Entertainment for the whole family on a working farm. Superb way to introduce the kids to the old crafts and show them where their food and clothes really come from. Lots for the rest of the family, too. Vendors, classes, demonstrations, great food.
