Day/Date/Time: Saturday, 8/2/2025 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a break for lunch. This class meets one time.
Description: Come knit the 2025 Shetland Wool Week hat with Joan. The class will focus on selecting your own colors and applying them to the hat. Of course, if you want to use the colors as assigned, you are welcome to do that, too. The photos show the colors Joan chose to make her unique Toorie. In addition to working with color, Joan will discuss the modifications she made and why, talk about color dominance, and discuss gauge and needles.
Required Supplies/Equipment/Books: Purchase/download/print Aal Ower Toorie pattern from shetlandwoolweek.com. You will also need 16” circular needles in US 1/2.25 mm through US 4/3.5 mm. If you don’t have all sizes, don’t worry — you will ultimately only need 2 sizes, most likely US 1/2.25 mm, and one of the other sizes. Depending on the colors chosen, 5-8 skeins of Shetland Wool are required. The yarn and needles are available for purchase in the shop during class.
Prerequisite: Must have some experience with knitting with two colors at the same time (Fair Isle or stranded knitting).
Pre-Class Prep: Print pattern.
Instructor: Joan Sheridan
Maximum: 10 students
Fee: $80.00
