Day/Date/Time: Saturday, 3/28/2026, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This class meets once.
Description: Plain weave doesn’t have to be plain. When you mix in color in a certain way, all kinds of exciting things can happen. Learn how to warp your loom to extract the magic in the colors. We will discuss color in class and what colors might or might not work well for this exercise. The entire process of dressing the loom and weaving will be done in class as a group project. When class is over, you will have your colors selected and be ready to go home and weave. Reminder: All weaving will be done at home.
Required Supplies/Equipment/Books: A rigid heddle loom with a weaving width at least 18” wide and a 12 or 12.5 rigid heddle. Spools of 8/4 cotton in three different colors. Optional: spool of 16/2 for weaving thinner hems (thread may also be used). You will also need threading and sleying hooks, warp separating materials, three stick shuttles at least 18” wide or three boat shuttles with bobbins, scissors, and tape measure.
Prerequisite: Must be able to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom independently.
