Day/Date/Time: Sunday, 1/31/2027 and 2/1/2027, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day, with a break for lunch. This class will meet for two days.
Description: In this workshop you will learn the basics of weaving Krokbragd on a multi-shaft loom. Krokbragd is a traditional weft-faced Scandinavian weaving technique woven on a twill threading that is used for rugs, bed covers and doorway insulators in Norway and Sweden. Technically a form of bound weave, Krokbragd is unique in construction and extremely versatile in patterning. After studying the ins and outs of the weave structure, students will weave a sampler of their choice using patterns provided or those of their own design. Krokbragd is slow weaving, but the results are worth it!
Required Supplies/Equipment/Books: Bring your own multi-shaft loom to the class or rent one of ours for $20.00 per week – the loom must be empty before the next scheduled Learn to Weave in a Weekend class. The instructor also suggests this book: (not required) Krokbragd: Contemporary Weaving with Colour by Angie Parker.
Prerequisite: Must be comfortable warping and weaving on a multi-shaft loom.
