Have you looked at Fair Isle knitting patterns and thought, “I’d like some different colors, but I wouldn’t know where to begin”? This ZOOM class will give knitters the chance to choose a different colorway and support in deciding how to arrange the new set of colors. We are using the Diamond Rose pattern (included in your class fee) with traditional Fair Isle designs and your choice of these colorways: blue and gray, autumn, naturals, and the original colorway. You’ll get tips for handling two colors of yarn, long floats, weaving in ends, and ending with an i-cord, as well as ongoing design discussions. Expect swatching to experiment with your chosen colors. The end product will be your own version of the Diamond Rose hat.

Registered participants will be sent the information about joining the Zoom sessions about a week before class. Make sure that your e-mail address is correct when you register. If you’d like the pattern posted to your Ravelry account, include your Ravelry name in the notes when you register on-line or let the clerk know if registering in the shop or on the phone.

Day/Date/Time:
Wednesdays, 10/1, 10/8, 10/22 and 10/29/2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT, via Zoom. This class meets four times.

Required Supplies/Equipment/Books:

  • US 1/2.25 mm and 3/3.25 needles to knit in the round. US 0/2.0 mm through 4/3.5 mm needles would be best if you need to go up or down a size needle to obtain gauge.
  • Standard knit kit listed on the Class Policies page under supplies and tools. In addition, we recommend something to help you keep your place on a chart like Knit Companion, post it notes, highlight tape, or a magnetic board.
  • Colored pencils - Erasable colored pencils work well.
  • Yarn pack of Jamieson Spindrift in the colorway of your choice: blue and gray, autumn, naturals, or the original colorway (purchased separately, here).
