History of the Norwegian Lice Pattern
Annemor Sundbo, a native of Setesdal in Norway, has created a fascinating history of a region, a garment, the makers, and the details that place these sweaters in the pantheon of traditional folk garments. Historic photographs of people, places, and advertising, highlight what makes the knit Norwegian garments so interesting and worn (and imitated) all over the world. The book ends with a pattern section of recreations of historic sweaters from photographs, paintings and garment fragments. The patterns are in a "shorthand" that places them in the realm of the experienced, or at least adventurous, knitter.
