Finally!

Posted November 26

It has taken a long time to get the energy to begin a blog, but here I am. This blog is a way for me to keep you up to date on shop happenings, new arrivals and even my personal projects. I hope that you will add it to your favorites and check back often.

Island Crew

This is the perfect place to begin is to mention that I just returned from spending part of Thanksgiving weekend at Bois Blanc Island, home to Insel Haus (www.inselhausbandb.com) where we have our spring and fall fiber retreats (number 13 is coming up the last weekend in April and still has openings). Going to the island is a treat for me, but it was especially fun this time because I was able to take my husband, Mark, and daughter, Mariah, along. We explored the island, even two-tracking to the lighthouse (now private, but you can see it from the lake), but mostly I knit and read a lot. I decided that I needed to finally make a pair of gloves and I’ve been wanting to knit something from the book Favorite Mittens, so I killed two birds with one stone and now I have a new class to add to the winter offerings. It was a really fun knit, but not for the timid!

Flying Geese Glove

Once back from the island and safely ensconced at the shop we got our first delivery of the day: six of the brand new Victoria travelling wheels from Louet. Three are spoken for, but there are three available — at the introductory price of just $550 and that includes a wonderful carry case. I am sorely tempted to make that two available and ask Mark for one for Christmas!

Hard for me to locate (the blog not the store) but worth the search. I look forward to lots of great topics on this site.
The glove looks wonderful and should appeal to quilters, too. Are there other quilting patterns available?
